Sefirat ha-Omer

Fifty days after Passover is the weeklong festival of Shavuot, which celebrates Moses’ receiving the Torah. Between the two holidays, the ritual “counting of the Omer” takes place, the counting of the harvested sheaves. In the 18th century, these Omer calendars were very popular as wall calendars or prayer books. Unusual about this volume are its 50 miniature, naïve depictions of biblical subjects.
