During the public reading of the megillah members of certain Ashkenazic communities are obliged to read four verses aloud, together with the public reader (Esther 2:5, 8:15, 8:16, and 10:3). In this megillah these four verses are written in larger script, most likely as a reminder to the reader. There are seven further unsigned Esther scrolls with similar decoration that share this scribal feature with this scroll from the Braginksy Collection. The decoration in these scrolls resembles the decoration of a number of printed books, the title page of one of which is signed by Isaac ben Moses Barukh Halevi of Kassel.
