Roman ketubbot are known for their elegant Hebrew calligraphy and their decorative designs, depicting Biblical episodes, allegorical scenes and delicate micrography. There are just two Roman ketubbot that are older than this one from the Braginsky Collection. The Paliano (or Pagliani) family was one of the wealthiest and most prominent Jewish families in Rome.
